Happy Earth Day
For the past 50 years, Earth Day has been celebrated by billions of people around the globe, annually every April 22, who join together in promoting awareness for the health of our environment. Below, we’ve provided you with some FAST FACTS about Earth Day, according to earthday.org and nationaltoday.com (our ‘go-to’ site for all things celebratory!)
🌏While some people view Earth Day as just another reason to wear green and a flower crown, billions of global citizens are adapting to more environmentally friendly ways of living — all in support of our planet. Such global events encourage us to work together in unity to achieve a better future for everyone!
🌍 Earth Day was first held in 1970 and provides a voice to ongoing and emerging environmental concerns.
🌏The first Earth Day inspired 20 million Americans to rally together to increase public awareness of the devastating impacts of industrial development.
🌎Because of these national rallies, the United States Environmental Protection Agency was formed and the Clean Air, Clean Water, and Engandered Species Acts were enacted.
🌍The 2023 Earth Day theme is “Invest in our Planet” with 1 billion individuals and 190+ countries engaged in mobilizing for action every day.
