Thermoforming Report

2024 – The Year in Review

by Keith Brown, President & Owner, Siena Group.

With 12 Thermoforming Reports published and 11 blog posts in the books, it only makes sense to pause and reflect on all of that content and determine a few common threads.

As it turns out, the January blog was our ‘year in review’ content.  And, upon reviewing and re-reading it, its main takeaway was the main thread throughout the year: Purpose, Prioritize, and Plan

This ends up being the foundation of a lot of content we generated this year.  That tells me that it must be important! So, let’s take a journey back in time…

February Blog: Work/Life Balance: Having a singular purpose helps you to focus.  That higher focus helps you to prioritize.  From there, you can effectively develop a plan.  This applies to both your work life and your personal life – and done well, can help you bring balance to both!

May Thermoforming Report: Trade Shows: Do trade shows align with your purpose?  If so, how?  Do you track them to see if you generate the desired results?  If so, how are they prioritized with your team?  To do them well – and get that much desired return on investment, you must plan well!  The devil is most certainly in the details in managing a trade show!

June Thermoforming Report & Blog: Project Management, Talent, and Milestones: Effective project management requires strong planning.  Effective talent management requires strong planning.  Both must align with your priorities as an organization and therefore must also align with your purpose.

Milestones only come along once and a while.  Knowing them and planning ahead will provide you an opportunity to recognize them in a way that uplifts the people and the organization… which in turn will strengthen and emphasize the purpose of the company.

September Thermoforming Report & Blog: Relentless Pursuit of Customer Loyalty and Talent: It takes significant effort to maintain customer loyalty on one side of the house, and landing and keeping talent on the other.  It isn’t called ‘relentless pursuit’ for nothing.  Your purpose?  If it doesn’t involve customers, you aren’t in business!  It must be a priority.  And therefore, a plan must be created in order to accomplish it.

To go a step further and using Stephen Covey’s 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, there must also be a step 7: Sharpen the Saw.  Making sure that what you are doing is working and adjusting is key part of sustainable success.

October Thermoforming Report: Leaving a Legacy: Being deliberate is the very essence of purpose.  That purpose may even be simple.  It very likely won’t happen without making it your number one and doing what it takes to ensure that it is accomplished.

Doing this over and over again as your purpose shifts year to year and decade to decade is what legacy is all about.

November Thermoforming Report: Managing a Crisis: This is the opposite of purpose: chaos hits and you have to scramble.  Most of the time it pulls you away from your main goal, shifts your priorities, and blows up your plan.  But does it?  Isn’t navigating through a crisis just a way to ensure your purpose is accomplished?  It is not a bad thing to have to shift and even reset to a new purpose.  Being able to do this well is a testament to your commitment.
